The Logan High School softball team gained a measure of revenge with Saturday’s 3-1 win at Sherman in the regular season finale.
Logan, which closed out at 21-4, had lost 8-2 to Sherman early in the season at home.
This time it was all Lady Cats as senior catcher Katie Chryssofos hit a pair of home runs and drove in all three as Logan won over the Tide at Seth.
Jordan Lewis went 2-for-3 for Sherman (18-10).
Morgan Aguirre was the starting and winning pitcher for Logan, which outhit the Tide 7-5.
Sherman led 1-0 after five innings before Logan tied it 1-1 in the sixth. The Cats then added two more in the seventh, thanks to a two-run homer by Chryssofos.
Logan is scheduled to return to action with Tuesday’s Class AAA Region 3 Section 3 tournament at South Charleston High School. Host SC takes on George Washington at 5 p.m. in the opener. Logan then plays the loser at 7 p.m. in the double elimination tourney.
The sectional tourney then continues on Wednesday with the finals.
BASEBALL
Valley Fayette 6, Man 1
The Man High School baseball team dropped to 14-11 on the season with Monday’s 6-1 loss at Valley Fayette.
Jordan Simpson had an RBI double for the Class A No. 7 Billies.
Man pitchers Jacob Riggins and Cody Carter combined on a four-hitter in a losing cause.
Cody Winter was the winning pitcher for Valley. He yielded four hits and struck out seven. At the plate, he hit a three-run homer.
The No. 6 Greyhounds improved to 21-6.
Man is scheduled to host River View on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
