Thank you Logan County Democrats! You sent a very clear message to Obama and his greatest cheerleader, Nick Joe Rahall.

If I were Nicky Joe, I’d be pretty nervous right now. It sure looks like southern WV democrats are hoping for big changes in Washington D. C., and where better to start than with a thirty year insider like Nick Joe. Obama and Nick Joe have preached to us for years about how we need to give them more of our money in order for them to help those less fortunate among us. But, the problem is, the help never ends! Every year they take more from us and give it away to people who didn’t earn it. Everybody just gets poorer!

So here is a thought I have on how to solve the poverty issue once and for all. Let’s just give everyone needing assistance a onetime payment in cash. If they waste the cash and end up poor again, tough luck; the program would be over.

There are supposedly forty five million people in poverty. (Of course you have to remember that poverty in America is not real poverty. Our poor have color TVs, automobiles, cell phones and designer clothing!) Nevertheless, the average American middle class family makes about fifty thousand per year. So here is my plan. Give everyone on assistance a onetime payment of one hundred thousand dollars, two years of income — tax free! When they get their check, they sign away any eligibility for future assistance of any kind.

My plan will cost us about 4.5 trillion dollars. I know that sounds like a lot of money, and it is. But it is still less money than Obama and Rahall have spent in just three years! The advantage of my plan is multifaceted. First, once the checks go out, we can effectively shut down hundreds and hundreds of assistance centers throughout the country. Entire agencies like HUD, WIC, and others can be closed altogether. Just think of the billions that we could save by closing these self perpetuating agencies!

Also, we can rightly expect that the money we pump out to these poor folks will surely almost instantly penetrate the economy. They will need to buy homes, cars etc. and businesses throughout the country will receive those dollars, allowing them to hire more people and prosper. But, the greatest benefit will be the message we deliver to the lazy. The message of “We are not going to fund your lazy, whining lifestyle any longer. If you don’t get up and do your fair share to support yourself, then you will suffer the consequences of your laziness”.

This could happen or something like it, if we had politicians with guts. The problem is, they are all a bunch of cowards. They are afraid of being called heartless and uncaring. So, they tax the rest of us into oblivion so they can look good in the press. It is time to throw the baby out with the bath water and start over with a new bunch. Since LBJ declared a “War on Poverty” in America in 1964, America has spent more than twice the amount I mentioned earlier and we still have as many poor as then.

Obviously politicians don’t know how to really fix things. It is time we recycle Washington D.C. and reelect no one. Throw them all out and start over with people who think like we do. And keep doing it until they understand that they work for us and we expect them to represent us!
