McCONNELL — The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) of Logan High School had an out of school rally for the spring sports season on Sunday, April 22, at the First Baptist Church of McConnell.
Sports teams and coaches from several sports were represented including the Coalfield Soccer Teams, ASA softball teams from Logan and Chapmanville, the tract teams from Logan Middle and Logan High, the tennis teams from Man and Logan High, the Logan tee-ball and Cal Ripken teams, and the Logan High School Ladies Wildcat Softball and Boys Baseball squads. Each team was recognized and a coach or spokesperson gave information about the success of each team.
An inspirational devotional was presented on the life of Daniel. At the conclusion of the service all the guests enjoyed a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
The FCA at Logan High is an active club. Member meet each Friday in sponsor John E. Godby’s room. An inspirational Bible message is given by a coach or layperson from the community.
“FCA is another way that God is honored in our school system,” said Godby. “Its purpose is to promote spirituality among athletes and students that enjoy the Christian lifestyle.”
Logan High School has had a FCA chapter since 2001. FCA has been in existence in the United States for over 55 years. It has chapters in middle schools, high schools, college, and on pro-teams and is a nationally known and accredited organization.
