The Logan Wildcats are back above .500 with Saturday night’s 56-40 win over Scott in the final contest of the six-game LB&T Classic at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.

Logan (7-6) jumped out to a 19-12 first quarter lead and never looked back in posting its second straight victory.

Senior Brantz O’Briant, who was recently shifted to the two-guard position from the point, helped lead Logan to victory as he netted 12 points. O’Briant was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from 3-point land and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

Paul Williamson led the way for the Wildcats with 15 points. Jonathan Bevins added 11, point guard Bryce Dalton had seven and Brett Sorrell had five. Jordan Butcher netted four and Jordan Canada two.

Scott was led by Carl Shaffer, who had 16 points. Steven McComas had 14. Both players were 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Tyler Ramsey tallied six points.

Logan was 18-of-35 shooting from the field for 51 percent. The Skyhawks were only 12-of-45 for an ice-cold 26 percent. The Cats were 5-of-9 from 3-point territory.

Before the Logan-Scott game, Perry County Central (Ky.), coached by Logan coach Mark Hatcher’s dad Allan, routed Tug Valley, 62-34. The elder Hatcher was also a former Willie Akers assistant at Logan and an ex-coach at Williamson High School.

Capital beat Westside 62-42 on Saturday in Game 4.
