LAWRENCE OUSLEY
DINGESS, W.Va. — Lawrence “Sambo” Ousley, 88, of Dingess, went to be with the Lord Jesus Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Herbert Ousley, and his wife of 47 years, Bernice Wellman Ousley.
Sambo was a veteran of World War II, for which he received numerous medals and honors, including the Bronze Star for heroic achievements in Italy. He was a rifleman, guard patrolman and platoon sergeant. He was a preacher, an avid gardener, and enjoyed reading and attending church. He was a retired coal miner of Island Creek Coal Company
Survivors include an abundance of family and friends
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at the Trace Church of God in Dingess with the Rev. Bobby Carter officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Wellman Family Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.
Visitation at begin at 5 p.m. for family and from 6 p.m.-12 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers are family and friends.
