CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Frank Adkins of Chapmanville passed away at home May 31, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 23, 1965, at Man, he was the son of Delores Keck Adkins of Taplin and the late George Lucion Adkins.

Also preceding him in death was his brother, Steven Adkins; niece, Shannon Adkins; nephew, Lane Perry; paternal grandparents, Frank and Gladys Adkins; maternal grandparents, Howard and Leona Keck; father-in-law, Jack Starkey; cousins, Frank “Lil Pee Wee” Adkins III and Larry Hill.

Additional survivors include his loving wife, high school sweetheart and bride of 28 years, Sara Beth Starkey Adkins; daughters and the lights of his life, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Adkins Thompson, and her husband, Russell, whom he loved as a son, of Pigeon Roost, Linda Starkey of Chapmanville and Alisha Starkey of St. Petersburg Fla.; beloved and cherished grandchildren, Aiden and Kalix Thompson of Pigeon Roost, Ethan, Alex, Nate and Rhyanna Conley of Logan and one unborn grandchild of Chapmanville; beloved mother-in-law, Linda Starkey of Lyburn; five brothers, Freddie (Angela) Adkins of Mullens, Howard Phillip “Bubby” Adkins of Taplin, Lucion (Lou) Adkins of Anderson, S.C., Douglas ( Ernastine) Adkins of Clayton, N.C., Randolph Chucky (Ann) McNeely of Taplin; sister-in-law, Karmela Adkins of Clayton; brothers-in-law, Jackie “Tom” Starkey of Lyburn and Carl “Pooch” Starkey of Madison Creek, and Patty Branham, Derrick Branham and Cody Starkey, all of Madison Creek WV. He will be sadly missed by all his nieces and nephews including Misty (Jimmy) Justice, Fred (Donetta) Adkins, Jeremy (Christa) Adkins, Tyler “TJ” Adkins, Brandi Adkins, Ashley Stevens, Christopher Smith, and Benji McNeely, and all of their families as well. He also left behind a few cherished friends, Danny Moore, Ruthie Sargent, Crystal and Chris Butcher, Carol and Johnny Farley, Christie and Ernie Watts, Fay and Curtis Karr, Crystal and Keenan Glandon and Valerie Ritz, and the wonderful co-workers from Maxx Contractors and Independence Coal. He will also be sadly missed by beloved cousins, friends, and his pet, Fat Louie, who he loved dearly.

A few of the things he enjoyed doing in his life were driving his coal truck and picking his grandson Aiden up from school and driving him around in their dump truck. He took so much pride in his work and life with his grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Lyburn Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Hershal Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Freddie Adkins, Phillip Adkins, Lucion Adkins, Doug Adkins, Chucky McNeely, Chris Butcher, Russell Thompson, Lil Freddie Adkins, Jeremy Adkins and Tom Starkey.

Honorary pallbearers are Dale Simmons, Carl “Pooch” Starkey and Terry Morgan.
