Editor,
I may be wrong, but isn’t it illegal to pass a stopped school bus, with red lights flashing, and Stop sign out? My 3rd grade daughter has had a few near-misses since she started school. Just this morning (May 23), the bus was completely stopped, with the Stop sign out, and red lights flashing, and my daughter was walking up the driveway towards the bus.
Just before she got to the shoulder of the road, this small pickup truck came blazing up behind the stopped bus, and passed it, and zoomed on down the road like nothing happened. A similar incident happened to her when she was in Kindergarten. Her current bus driver told me this is happening more frequently every day.
What’s it going to take, you running over a child and killing him/her? Think about it drivers while you’re on your way to or from work. If you kill a child, please consider the consequences of your actions. Is it going to be worth it, just because you think you need to get home a minute or two sooner?
Please slow down and watch out for our kids while their waiting for the bus!
