Born September 28, 1937, at Proctor Hollow at Amherstdale, he was a son of the late Clay and Lena Richmond Stowers. Also preceding him in death was his loving wife with whom he will celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary, Patsy Jean Adkins Stowers, who went to be with the Lord May 18, 2008; step-mother, Jean Bartrum Stowers; two sisters, Betty Lusk and Jewel Smith, and one grandson, Nicholas Hunt.
Jack was a retired coal miner, formerly employed with Amherst Coal Company for over 34 years, and a member of the UMWA District 17. He was a dedicated member of Bethel Chapel at Yolyn and loved to read and spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include four children, Jackie (Nancy) Stowers and Tommy Stowers, both of Mallory, Kathy (Ronnie) Hunt of Cooks Addition and Robin (Chris) Kane of Bluefield; one brother, Charles (Patty) Stowers of Accoville; two sisters, Barbara McClung of McConnell and Mildred Sellers of Andersonville, Tenn.; two half-sisters, Judy Mundy of St. Albans and Debra Perkins of Woodstock, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Jody) Simpson, Amber Justice, Brandon Hunt, Megan Jude, Jonathan Jude, Little Jack Stowers III, Sara Beth Stowers, Kaitlyn Stowers and Tomi Loren Stowers, and three great-grandchildren, Sierra, Dakota, and Austin Simpson.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Keith McClung, Rev. Alfred “Butch” Cobb and Rev. Stephen Hunt officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Adkins, Frankie Secreto, Jimmy Walker, Roger Endicott and Butch Ferrell.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

I want to say that i and Jimmy are so very saddened to hear of the loss of Jackie and Patsy.
They were such loving people and so much fun to be around. He had a wonderful family as i remember Betty Lusk and Jewel Smith very well too!! I love you all and will remember you in my prayers.. Look to GOD for comfort and lean on each other, someday you will see your mom/dad again...Until then, they will wait for you...Your childhood babysitter Joyce and your friends always, Jimmy and Joyce Robinson and family.
