GLADYS BRICKLES
CYCLONE, W.Va. — Gladys Workman Brickles, 90, of Cyclone, departed this life Friday, June 1, 2012, from her residence following an extended illness.
Born January 5, 1922, at Logan, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Perlina Bailes Workman. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Carlos Brickles; one son, Jimmy Brickles; three brothers, James, Arnold Jr., and Raymond Workman; two sisters, Letha and Hazel Workman, and one son-in-law, Fred “JD” Deer.
Gladys was a member of the Church of God for more than 60 years and one of the founding members of the Man Church of God. Her greatest joys were her relationship with God, cooking, crocheting, making holiday crafts and taking care of her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Maxine Deer of Cyclone and Elaine (Mason) Grimmett of Mallory; one brother, Franklin Workman of Logan; three sisters, Lena Mae Mauk of Flatwoods, Ky., Thelma Feeney of Russell, Ky., and Mable (Clifton) Clay of Columbus, Ohio; one granddaughter, Susanne (Anthony) Glover of Mallory; six grandsons, Tony Grimmett of Mallory, Freddy (Tammy) Deer and Richard (Travanna) Deer, both of Logan, Terry (Lynn) Brickles of Cyclone, Jason (Manda) Brickles of Elkins and Cody Brickles of Danville; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Lance, Cheyenne, and Jayson Brickles, all of Elkins; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
Services will commence at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the Campus Church of God with Rev. Roger Stewart, Rev. Jimmy Frazier and Rev. Michael Dent officiating. Gladys will be laid to rest at the Isaac-Sloane Cemetery at West Hamlin.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
