CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Gilbert Eugene Farmer, 80, of Chapmanville, departed this life Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born February 27, 1932, in Hensonville, Va., he was a son of the late James and Else Lee Kiser Farmer. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Irene Robinson, and the mother of his children, Martha Lester Farmer.

Gilbert enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, hunting with his son Mike, and ATV and motorcycle riding. He retired from R.H. Bouligny Inc. and was a member of IBEW Local 317 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) for 55 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 17 years, Donna Stonoff Farmer; two daughters, Karen Franklin of Greenville, Tenn., and Tresa (Willie) Morris of Blountville, Tenn.; one son, Michael Gene (JoAnn) Farmer of Henlawson; one brother, James D. (Lou) Farmer of Lebanon, Va.; seven grandchildren, William (Valeri) Morris, Tina (Mike) Cox, Brandi (Jonathan) Ellis, Angie Farmer, Jaimie (Matt) Adams, Brittany (Justin) Gillum and Michael Farmer II; 12 great-grandchildren, Paterson, Mikayla and William Cox, Timothy, Jeffrey, Brianna and Caitlyn Morris, Madison Woods, Brooklyn and Jordan Ellis, Kevin Michael (Gibson) Farmer, and Morgan Adams, and his German Shepherd “Troubles.”

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon with Lester Frank officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Stonoff, Michael Farmer II, Tommy Gibson, Bill Morris, Doug Robinson and Steve Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Morris, Tony Robison, Dave Swims, G. Buck Smith and Freddie Gore.

Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
