CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Garnet Workman Hensley, 82, of Godby Branch of Chapmanville, departed this life Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at her residence.
She was born May 7, 1930 in Whirlwind, a daughter of the late Shade and Ethel Mullins Workman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Vergie Fillinger, Leonard Workman, Lawrence Workman, Lindsey Workman, Lesley Workman, Oscar Lee Workman, Earl Dee Workman, Verlie Smith, and Roberta Robinson and his father and mother-in-law, James and Sarah Dalton Hensley.
Garnet attended Bulwark Grade School, and was a member of the Shining Light United Baptist. She was a former employee of K-City and George Baisden Grocery.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Frank Hensley; two daughters, Lillian Carroll (Carl) Curry of Ashland, Ky., and Patty Sue (Larry) Beckett of Chapmanville; one son, Jimmy Dale (Sherry) Hensley of Chapmanville; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Kathlene) Curry, Ryan (Amy) Curry, Allen (Nicole) Beckett, Leslie (Jim) Honaker, Rebecca (Kevin) Moore, Cristy Hensley and Brian (Jill) Hensley; and 14 great-grandchildren, Jamie, Mike Honaker, Brandon (Erica) Smith, Benjamin Hensley, Caitlyn, Jeromy Beckett, Ethan, Landon, Karleigh Moore, Emma Curry, Hunter and Carter Robinson, and Mackenzie and Katilyn Moore, and two caregivers, Freda and Angie.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Freeman Funeral Home with Jimmy Carter and Ricky Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
