Ashley Michelle Carroll, the daughter of Joe and Kathy Carroll of Wilkinson, graduated from West Liberty University in West Liberty on May 12, 2012. She graduated from the College of Science as Summa Cum Laude, or with highest honors. She received a B.S. degree in Biology and a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Music.
Ashley was an Elbin Scholar, a member of the Liber Society – West Liberty’s ranking women’s honorary, a member of Chi Beta Phi National Science Honorary, and was President of West Liberty’s chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. Ashley was very active while at West Liberty. She was a member of the Biology Club, secretary of the Chemistry Club, philanthropy chair of Beta Rho Epsilon Sorority, and sung with the West Liberty University Concert Choir all four years of college. In addition, Ashley was a tutor for the WLU Center for Student Success, performed in several musicals with the West Liberty Hilltop Players, and sung in West Liberty’s first ever opera production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
Ashley plans to further her education by attending Indiana University School of Optometry in the fall to obtain the degree of Optometric Doctor. Ashley is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan. She is the granddaughter of Isabella Carroll of Cherry Tree, the late Irie “Bill” Carroll and the late Julius and Ruth Baisden of Verdunville.
