The Wyoming County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Coal Heritage Highway Authority has announced the schedule for the 5th annual “Coal Heritage 5k Run/Walk Series”.
This is a popular race series with runners coming from Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia. Also includes many runners, of all age groups and skill levels, from Wyoming County and other regional counties.
Dates and locations are:
• Oceana Heritage Festival 5K Race, Saturday, July 7, at 9 a.m. at the City Park in Oceana
• Pineville 5K Road Race, Sunday, August 26, at 4 p.m.
• Twin Falls Lumberjack Jamboree 5K Race, Sunday, October 14, at 4 p.m.
Entry fee is $12 if paid before July 1 and $17 after July 1.
Entry fee includes a t-shirt, age-based trophies, prize monies for the first four finishers in both the male and female divisions and, both pre-race and post-race refreshments and drinks.
Prize monies for winners in both the male and female divisions are: First place, $250; second place $150; third place $100; fourth Place $70.
Trophies are available for youth and high school runners for both boys and girls. A fun-run for very young kids is held at the end of the main races.
