CHAPMANVILLE — The Logan County Sheriff’s Department believes alcohol and speed were contributing factors in a motor vehicle accident Sunday morning that has left one man dead.
William Darren Workman, 36, of Chapmanville, died from injuries he sustained after he lost control of the 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving on Crawley Creek.
According to the sheriff’s department, when Deputy J. N. Sheppard arrived at approximately 12:01 a.m. June 24, at the scene he found the truck on its top located on the left side of the roadway. During the investigation of this crash Deputy J. N. Sheppard found that Mr. Workman had been traveling west bound on County Route 3 when the he lost control of the pickup truck running off the roadway to the right and then went across the roadway to the left side of the road and hit an embankment. The vehicle had overturned several times ejecting both the Mr. Workman and the passenger from the pickup truck.
The identity or condition of the passenger was not disclosed.
The accident is still under investigation by Deputy Sheppard.
