For the third straight year, the Cincinnati Reds, in partnership with WVOW radio 101.9 FM and 1290 AM in Logan, have teamed up to offer “Logan West Virginia Community Day” at Great American Ballpark.
This year’s Logan West Virginia Day is set for Sunday, July 22 as the Reds are scheduled to face the Milwaukee Brewers at 1:10 p.m.
The first 8,000 fans in attendance 14-and-under will receive a Reds mini mascot set.
The Reds were 39-32 at the beginning of the week and first place in the National League Central Division.
Cincinnati was slated to also host the Brewers in a three-game set this week before going to San Francisco to play at four- game series against the Giants, June 28-July 1. The Reds then stay on the West Coast with a three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers July 2-4 and a four-game series at San Diego against the Padres July 5-8 before the All-Star Break kicks in between July 9-12.
After the break, the Reds host the defending World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals July 13-15 and host the Arizona Diamondbacks July 16-19 before the home series with the Brewers July 20-22 with the Logan West Virginia Day event.
Cincinnati is led at the plate by first baseman Joey Votto, who is hitting .359 and has driven in a team-best 47 runs going into this week’s play. Jay Bruce leads in home runs with 16.
Johnny Cueto leads the Reds pitchers as he has nine wins, a 2.21 ERA and 76 strikeouts — all team-highs.
