PLANT CITY, Fla. — Venita Doris “Mimi” “Docki” Burks McClellan, 85, of Plant City, Florida, went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 28, 2012.
Born at Braeholm, in 1926, she was a daughter of the late Sanford Bevely and Lake Leona Altizer Burks. Also preceding her in death was a son, Sanford Robert “Sandy” McClellan; grandson, Paul Edward Christlieb, and siblings, John Loren Burks, Beverly Ray Burks, and Mae Yvonne Sos.
Mrs. McClellan moved to Plant City in 1995. In 1958, she and her husband Robert became born-again Christians, and they were instrumental in organizing several churches, including one of the first Freewill Baptist churches in Northeast Ohio, the Bristolville Freewill Baptist Church. She was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Plant City. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, puzzles, gospel music, and playing with her grandchildren, and she loved her family.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Henry McClellan; children, Linda Sue (Roger) Christlieb, Rev. Rodger Dale (Kathy) McClellan, and Teddy Gray (Rev. Lee) Craddock; grandchildren, Rhonda Sue (Edward) Helmuth, Robert Edward (Melissa) McClellan, Tammi Leona (Juan) Campis, Russell Carl McClellan, Dr. Jason Christopher (Miranda) Craddock, Daniel Evan Christlieb, and Rev. Jeremy Lee (Brandy) Craddock; sister-in-law, Bonnie Burks; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 CR 39 S, Plant City, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Springhead Cemetery at Lakeland, Fla.
