WEST LOGAN — A statutory meeting was held Monday afternoon for official business relating to the Board of Education members and the upcoming 2012-2013 school year.

Judge Eric O’Brian administered the oath of office to newly elected member Jim Frye. Frye was elected to the BOE in May 2012. O’Brian also administered the oath of office to incumbent Phyllis Adkins. This was the fourth time Adkins has been elected to serve on the BOE.

Following the oaths of office, the election of BOE president was held. Adkins was nominated for the position by Frye and the nomination was seconded by BOE member Mark McGrew. The motion was carried by all members.

McGrew nominated BOE member Bill Davis to serve as vice president and the motion was seconded by Adkins. The motion was carried by all members.

The BOE also set their meeting schedule for the 2012-2013 school year. The meetings will be held at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at the Central Offices.

Adkins was also nominated and elected to serve on the RESA II Advisory Board Council.

Logan County School Superintendent Wilma Zigmond said she looked for the upcoming year to be the best year yet.

“This year we have five school board members who love our kids… who are committed to teachers and our service personnel and to giving our kids the best education possible,” said Zigmond.
