LUNDALE, W.Va. — Mildred Marie Buchanan Smith, 86, of Lundale, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 30, 2012, from Bristol, Tenn., after a short illness.
Born February 10, 1926, in McDowell County, she was daughter of the late Roy and Barbara Powers Buchanan. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Eugene Smith Sr., and one sister, Helen Buchanan Owens.
Mildred was a homemaker and a member of Man Church of God where she served as the church clerk for many years. Devoted to her family, Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Eugene (Ruby) Smith Jr. of Flintville, Tenn., Henry Lee Smith of Lundale, and Jerry (Taew) Smith of Lorado; a special friend who was like a son, Andy Jack (Jackie) Lawrence of Smithfield, N.C.; one sister, Delores (Roy) Hoosier of Cresaptown, Md.; one brother, Roy Lee Buchanan of Newport, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bernard Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Sparks Cemetery at Bradshaw Mountain.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior services Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Man Church of God, 639 Main Street, Man, WV 25635.
