About 47,000 Appalachian Power customers, 1,200 of which are in Logan County, were still without power at presstime.
The first storm hit on June 29. Smaller subsequent storms have caused outages for people who didn’t lose power the first time or who had gotten back on the grid.
The state Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management says it’s beginning preliminary damage assessments with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Those reports will determine eligibility for federal disaster assistance.
The American Red Cross says it also has 200 workers out assessing damage and helping residents get the services they need to recover.
