HARVELLA COOK

LAKELAND, Fla. — Harvella B. Cook, 89, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on July 7, 2012.

Born November 2, 1922, at Colcord, she was a daughter of the late Thomas S. and Samantha E. Pettrey Harris. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Carlton Cook; two sisters, Grace Pettrey and Josephine Rose; and her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Cook.

Harvella loved gospel music, going to church, working, and being with her family. She loved singing in the choir and loved going out with her friends. Above all else she loved the Lord. She worked as a cashier at Southeastern University in Lakeland for more than 30 years. She was a devoted Christian.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving son, Carlton E. Cook of Chapmanville; daughter, Nancy Farley of Lakeland; four grandchildren, David Cook, Kevin Cook, Stacy Robinette and Denvil Farley, and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Daley officiating. Following the services, Harvella will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Beckley.

Friends may gather with the family from 6-8 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
