MADISON — King of the Coal Fields III will be held this Saturday, July 28 at the Madison Civic Center.

It will be Black Eye Promotions first event in Madison and also their first all-pro fight card.

The event will feature both local and regional fighters including three main event matchups.

Many fans will recognize some of the fighters from previous events, as five of the main attractions are coming off victories at KOTCF II in June at Logan.

KOTCF II was a two-night event featuring a Friday night main event matchup between Warren “The Hitman” Browning and Jason “The Mason” Pauley. “The Hitman” wasted little time, as he was able to score a first-round knockout after landing a huge right hand. The win improved Browning’s record to 15-2, a number he hopes to improve on as he faces off with veteran Cullen Rogers on Saturday night in one of the nights main events.

Madison native “King” Zack Kuhn (4-1) is currently on a three-fight winning streak, including a pair of TKOs at KOTCF I & II. He hopes for more of the same this weekend, and he is excited about the opportunity to do it in front of his hometown crowd in a co-main event bout.

“With this event being closer to home, I’m hoping for a good turnout to support all the local fighters,” Kuhn said. “It promises to be a great night of pro boxing and I hope fans from the Madison area make it out for the show.”

One fighter that will be making his KOTCF debut is Jason “The Coalfield Cobra” Smith.

Smith (4-1) will be making his return to the ring after a seven-year layoff from the sport. Before turning pro, Smith had an amateur record of 74-4, including winning 14 amateur tournaments. Smith’s return to the ring will also be one of the night’s co-main events.

Austin “Speedy” Marcum of Breeden has became a fan favorite because of his action-packed fights at KOTCF I & II. He returns for KOTCF III after securing his first professional victory at the June event. Prior to his professional fights, Marcum was a winner of both Toughman and Rough and Rowdy events. He will square off against Mike Arnold on Saturday in what promises to be an exciting matchup.

Virginia natives Coy “The Comic” Witt and Chris “No Joke” Jones will make a return trip to West Virginia hoping for similar results this time around after scoring early knockouts at KOTCF II. Witt’s record is now 1-0 with 1 KO and Jones is 3-0 with 3 KOs.

Overall, the card includes seven professional fights, with a chance of adding another throughout the week.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with first bell scheduled for 7:30.

There will also be a merchandise booth where fans will be able to pick up T-shirts, decals, and DVD copies of the first two events. FriendsofCoalMiners.net returns as the primary sponsor along with Hill Chiropractic, Josh Nelson, Twilight Security, Boone Memorial Hospital and Lights Out Boxing Gym.
