PECKS MILL, W.Va. — Ural Tomblin, 88, of Pecks Mill, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born March 29, 1924 in Coretta, he was a son of the late Allen and Ruby Lillian Morris Tomblin. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Virgil, Arnold and Robert Earl Tomblin; one sister, Lucille Smith Tomblin, and one son-in-law, James D. Mabry.
Ural enjoyed going to church, spending time with his wife and family, gardening and yard work. He loved all flowers, bird watching and nature.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Alfreda “Merle” Elkins Tomblin; four daughters, Sharlene Mabry of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Willa Jean (Marshall) Mooney of Evansville, Ind., Patricia Ann (Richard) Wilcox of Beckley, and Wanda (David) White; two sons, Ural (Judi) Tomblin Jr. of New Freedom, Pa., and David (Rita) Tomblin of Livonia, Mich.; two sisters, Ivory Daugherty of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Juanita Hammock of Tazewell, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, Jim Mabry, Christopher Mabry, Marsha Todd, Karen Courtney, Sharon Harrier, Jason Wilcox, Cheryl Spak, Jeff Tomblin, Sam Tomblin, Kelly Hardy, Ryan White, Daniel White, Josh Tomblin, and Jake Tomblin, and 21 great-grandchildren, Elise and CJ Mabry, Nathan and Eliana Todd, Kayte, Ambry and Layne Harrier, Ella, Ava and Nora Courtney, Seth and Hannah Bland, Payden Polize, Jada and Jett Wilcox, Bailey, Callie, Logan and Benjamin Tomblin, and Lilly and Ethan White.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 2, at Mill Creek Church of God with Rev. Trent Belford officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
