HELEN WATTS

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Mrs. Helen L. “Toots” Watts, 93, of Henlawson, entered this life January 23, 1919, at Branchland, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Goldie Raines Franklin. She expired Friday, July 27, 2012, in Greensboro, N.C., at the home of her daughter.

Also preceding her in death was her husband of 71 years, Millard Watts.

Mrs. Watts was a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church at Henlawson for more than 50 years, a participating member of the ladies fellowship circle and a was alto singer with the Gospel Light Quartet for more than 40 years.

She was the beloved mother of Kenneth (Marsha) Watts of Mill Creek and Carolyn Kay (Jerry) Jones of Greensboro. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Kennith (Carmen) Watts of Orlando, Fla., David (Cindy) Dingess, Kimberly (Alex) McLauchlin and Michael (Tisha) Davidson, all of Greensboro, and Brian Dingess of Fort Worth, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Freda Justice and Delana Conley; three sisters-in-law, Nan Franklin, Ruby Ferguson and Lola Farmer; brother-in-law: Eph Watts and an aunt, Eva Conley.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, July 31, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Minister Orville Syner officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with her final earthly resting place beside her husband.

Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.
