DELBARTON — An anonymous tip alleging that a Delbarton couple was cultivating and selling marijuana led to the arrest of Deborah Hunt, 35, and her husband Randy Hunt, 45, both of Rockhouse Road, but the charges did not stop there.
According to the criminal complaint filed by West Virginia State Police Troopers D.C. Moore and D.M. Williamson, the tip was received at the Williamson Detachment on July 27, at which time the officers traveled to the location to conduct an investigation.
Upon arrival, the troopers observed a single marijuana plant in a black plastic bucket behind the single-wide trailer occupied by the Hunts. While speaking with the defendants, Trooper Moore relayed that he seen multiple green leaves that appeared to be marijuana lying on plates inside a cabinet that was in full view of the front entrance of the home.
After being granted permission by the Hunts’ to search the residence, the officers also located within the cabinet a clear, plastic baggie containing a green and brown leafy substance thought to be marijuana, weighing approximately 1.1 grams. A larger, clear bag containing the same substance was also found, and was recorded as weighing 23.7 grams.
The defendants cooperated with the officers and disclosed the location of a number of pills inside their home that they admitted to having no valid prescriptions for, including 42 10mg Zydone tablets, (which is a pure form of the hydrocodone drug ), a Schedule III controlled substance; 18 Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen tablets, 7.5 mg, a Schedule III controlled substance; and 32 Lyrica tablets, which is classified as a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Both defendants were charged with five felonies each, including possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession with intent to deliver Zydone, possession with intent to deliver Acetaminophen/Hydrocodone, possession with intent to deliver Lyrica and one count of conspiracy.
The Hunts were arraigned before Mingo Magistrate Pamela Newsome who set their individual bonds at $40,400. The defendants were released from custody after meeting conditions of their bail.
