Our heritage

Editor,

Coal is our heritage, our coal miners have worked hard to keep the lights on. I would like to thank our coal miners and let you know that there are people out there that respect you.

Where is the bail out for coal miners Mr. President? You bail out car builders but not coal miners.

I hope that people will remember this at election time. Say no to Obama like he says no to West Virginia.

Bail out for coal miners… he is taken our jobs away and offers no solution to his actions for our coal miners. Being green is ok if you don’t have to pay bills or eat

Again where is the sense of all this going if we are green and China and Japan still use coal and pollute? What’s the purpose of us being green so they can breathe clean air in our country? If China cashes its chips in Mr. President they’ll tell all of us what to do!

Hi-jacked Democratic party

Editor

Gary Corns is right! The Democrat party is not what it used to be. Logan County coal mining and unions are a part of my family’s heritage. My father, Paul Bokosky, was at the Smoke House when John Kennedy campaigned in Logan. My father was also black-balled from the mines for his pro-union activities. Also, I have other relatives who fought the good fight at Blair Mountain.

Over the years, the Democrat party has been hi-jacked by special interest groups, including the Socialist Party. Additionally, groups like the gay movement, radical environmentalists, the unions, those with an open border policy, pro-abortionists, anti-religious, those in favor of affirmative action and others have taken control of the Democrat party.

The Democrats do a fantastic job of campaigning as conservatives and give speeches on traditional American values. But once in office, they must adhere to the agenda of those in control. I can’t recall the last time America sent a Conservative Democrat to Washington and he/she stood up for the values of the people that elected them. It just doesn’t happen any longer.

Our children are even indoctrinated in the public school system into thinking the Democrat way: America is repressive, it does take a village, white people should feel guilty for slavery, it’s OK to be openly homosexual, religious people are bigots, Earth before God, the United Nations serve America’s interests, oil and coal are evil, etc.

Ever wonder why the Democrats oppose school vouchers? It’s simple: You teach the kids to think the way we want them to think and we’ll fight the fight for the teachers unions and we’ll do our best to channel as much money to you as possible. There are plenty of great teachers, it’s a noble profession. It’s difficult to lay the blame at the feet of any particular teacher. It is the system they are a part of that has been corrupted. However, I do see a glimmer of hope.

I do believe more and more people are beginning to see the Democrats for who they really are. I work with a lot of younger people. They are now realizing that the Democrats and President Obama have saddled their generation with trillions of dollars of debt. They recognize that the path of debt this country is undertaking is unsustainable and unacceptable.

Additionally, I have noticed how some of the older generation (die-hard Democrat voters) are also seeing the Democrat party for who they really are. Some are beginning to vote the other party for the first time in their lives. Here’s an example of what this social/political war is all about. Just this week, a big news story was about the company, Chick-Fil-A. The CEO of the company adheres to traditional Christian values and opposes gay marriage. Elizabeth Warren, of the Obama administration, publicly encouraged gays to protest and have kiss-ins at all the restaurants. Rham Emmanuel, a former Obama Administration official and now mayor of Chicago, said that Chic-Fil-A does not represent Chicago’s values and they are not welcome in Chicago.

You can’t tell me that President Obama and those in control of the Democrat party don’t think the same way. They all want to encourage gay-activism and promote hate towards religious people. A sad aspect of all this is the fact that the Democrats have become so self-serving, they have no shame.

Animal shelter

Editor,

I would like to take this time to inform the public of the Logan County Pound in Logan. It is a high kill shelter.

There are a lot of beautiful dogs and cats there with wonderful personalities that would make great pets. Instead of buying a pet and paying a fortune, please go to the pound and find your dog or cat. There are so many to choose from, and if a home can’t be found, most of them will die.

SAFE, a volunteer group, that is doing everything they can to improve the conditions at the pound and save all the animals they can while working with the Logan County Commission, will work with you if you have questions or need special assistance.

Please save a life and rescue an animal. You will be so glad you did.

Melanie Bush Lawson

The Logan Banner has been kind enough to allow me to provide links for people to read up on important news. All they need do is copy/paste the link in their search engine and see with their own eyes what I am saying is true. Some say I am extremist when I warn of a looming war in the Middle East. Just read what Amadinejad has to say about Israel: http://news.yahoo.com/tumour-israel-soon-destroyed-ahmadinejad-091548418.html . For those who don’t have time to read, he calls Israel a tumor that must be excised. What do the Muslims think about the Mahdi? In a Pew Research poll, many Muslims in Muslim countries believe in his coming http://us.mg5.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?.rand=fnnent6sj0fc7 . Hey…I don’t make this stuff up! Everything I have posted on the Logan Banner has been backed up by statistics and reality. People who think I am a right wing nut case better wake up and smell the coffee! The anti-Christ is coming in the form of the Mahdi

I would like to make a few points. Coal is important now and will be into the foreseeable future. Much of the electricity we use today comes from coal. Many countries use coal in the production of their electricity. The production of coal is down somewhat because we have had several mild winters in a row. However, there is no guarantee that trend will continue. The main point I was trying to make regarding coal was it would be a great way to pay down our debt. Obama has racked us will more debt than all other presidents combined. Also, if America is the Saudi Arabia of coal, then West Virginia is one of the most important exporters of coal in the United States. Most questions concerning coal can be found on this site: http://www.wvminesafety.org/wvcoalfacts.htm . Due to the high demand for coal, I don’t think it will go away anytime soon.

Obama has not been good for coal. I don’t believe the mine worker’s union is supporting him this time around. I saw two miners out of work on the TV telling their story. It was sad story and didn’t need to happen. Obama goal is to put the coal power plants out of business http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wzNUZVv0A0 and in doing that will knowingly allow energy prices to skyrocket. These are words from Obama’s own lips. No thinking working person could vote for such a reckless president a second time.

In as far as the 2012 predictions go people can take it or leave it! It doesn’t matter to me. I provide information and links that might interest some people. I find it interesting that more than the Mayans had some connection to Dec. 21, 2012. The links given were for informational purposes only. I won’t lose any sleep on Dec. 20, 2012 – unless the New Madrid quake happens to shake me out of bed. Christ said that no man knows the day or hour of his second coming; he said nothing about the year, month or season. Even the bible states that when a tree begins to bloom in spring, one knows that summer in nigh. Likewise will be the coming of the Son of Man. Many of the things necessary for the 2nd coming have already occurred. Elijah has returned and turned the hearts of the children to their fathers, and turned the hearts of the fathers to their children. Israel became a nation as of 1948, and the children of Israel are returning to Israel.

I don’t know this for sure, but I would be willing to bet that there will soon be a war in the Middle East. Has anyone been reading the rhetoric coming from Iran? The leadership in Iran is setting up the circumstances for the return of the Mahdi (the equivalent to their messiah) to happen very soon. I wonder if dollaphone has been keeping up with events in the Middle East? I think not! We had a pretty bad draught this year. Crops were decimated and hunger will increase. All these things were predicted in the bible! I think 2012 marks the start of the calamities, but I hope I am wrong.

Mr. Bokosky, from where I sit it is not the Democrats who are self-serving but the Republicans. They don't vote for much unless it benefits them. Many of them won't accept speaking engagements unless they are paid.

I don't agree with homosexuality, gay-marriage, and I certainly won't promote it but neither do I rail about it.

The debt didn't start with Obama. It started before he was elected but you and others who think like you want others to believe that. Oh what a wicked web we weave when first we practice to deceive.

I have a number of Republican friends who are sick and disgusted with the Republican Party. I guess you could say their eyes have been opened.

So you see, it runs both ways.

Pepper, Matthew 24:36 reads: "But of that day and hour knowneth no man, no, not the Angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Matthew 24:24 reads, "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

Jesus cautioned us to watch and be on guard because he knew how easy it is to be deceived. All these predictions are just that, predictions.

Mr. McComas, coal will be a thing of the past whether you like it or not. Cheap natural gas is fast replacing it and it has nothing to do with this President. It is all about money. Money talks!

According to many learned scholars, there may not be many years left until Christ returns. An author by the name of Horn has done research and found many outstanding examples from various religions that show something might happen on Dec. 21, 2012. Even the pyramid on the back of our dollar bill points to the year 2012 http://www.wnd.com/2012/07/2012-doom-its-not-just-mayan-claim/?cat_orig=us ! Our nation won independence in 1776. On the back of the dollar bill the pyramid has 13 levels from the bottom to the top where the all Seeing Eye is located. The author posits that if each level represent 19.7 years (the same number of years in a Katun), then the end would be 2012 (This –of course - could also mean anything anyone wants! It could also mean the end of our nation as we know it if Obama is re-elected.)

He gave many other fine examples in the link I gave above. Some may have heard of Saint Malachy’s prediction concerning the number of popes until the last pope. Guess what, according to Malachy Pope Benedict is the next to last pope before the 2nd coming! I have a feeling things are about to get REAL interesting!

Also, coal isn't going anywhere. Fifty percent of the power plants producing electricity use coal. We are the Saudi Arabia of coal. It would be stupid not to use it. We could sell coal to China to reduce our debt (but charge them a lot for it!)

You need to do some research on the amount of coal left in WV. You apparently didn't read the article on this newspaper about natural gas prices being cheaper than coal.Take your hocus pocus elsewhere. Christ said you will not know when he returns. Get on some bipolar meds.

Mr. Mccomas, Have you not been paying attention to the news and on this front page that fracking has helped lower the price of natural gas and coal is no longer in demand.? Your politicians for the last few years have been asking for input on tourist attractions and that should have told you coal was going to be fazed out. The people in Wv. did not like Obama from the beginning and refused to vote for a black man and now you want him to bail you out. Get ready for change or get ready to leave and look for a different kind of employment as people have done before.

Thank you Melanie for speaking up for the animals in our county. Hopefully that will remind people that they too can help.
