40th wedding anniversary…

John D. and Edna Mae Thompson were honored with a 40th wedding anniversary celebration on July 1, 2012, at the Ferrellsburg Community Center. Hosting the event was the couple’s children, Julia Mae Thompson Kestel and Scotty R. Thompson, and their granddaughter, Ariel Marie Kestel.

The dinner was catered by Skeeter’s Restaurant in Harts; their anniversary cake was by Drema Chapman and photography was provided by Phyllis Kirk.

Edna was adopted at the young age of five years old by the late Bill and Julia Butcher.

“I was always grateful to the Butchers for this,” said Edna.

She was the first secretary for Hugh Dingess Grade School and was later employed with Time Finance Company in Logan.

John is a retired teacher (math and algebra) with 38 years of service to Logan County Schools. He is the son of the late Bruce and Elsie Thompson.

The couple was married on June 30, 1972 at the home of Edna’s adoptive parents.

They are members of the Ferrellsburg Church of Christ.
