U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) will visit Madison and Logan Thursday, August 23, as part of his “Building a Stronger America Together” tour.

For two consecutive weeks, Manchin will travel around West Virginia to discuss some of the most pressing issues of our day and how leaders must work across party lines to solve them.

“Whether it’s reducing the debt of this nation or creating good-paying jobs, the problems that we face can’t be solved by one political party alone,” said Manchin. “When I was Governor, West Virginians of all political parties put aside their differences for the good of our state; our country can and must do the same. Nothing could be more important than rebuilding this country, and I look forward to having this conversation with the people of West Virginia.”

The Senator plans to meet with seniors and young professionals to discuss how to sustain programs like Social Security and Medicare and host public forums and speak at events to dedicate job-creating infrastructure projects. Manchin will also highlight the contributions of veterans who have served the country and his project to increase veterans’ employment.

Manchin will continue to encourage all West Virginians to attend the first-ever bipartisan federal fiscal summit on Sept. 10. Two of the nation’s leading fiscal experts will be joining Senator Manchin to discuss our country’s finances and our future. Republican Senator Alan Simpson and Mr. Erskine Bowles, the former White House Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton, led the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and have presented a bipartisan blueprint for a path forward. The free forum is open to the public and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 10 at the Culture Center theater in Charleston.

Manchin will visit the Boone County Courthouse and speaks with area residents at 12:30 p.m. and will be in Logan at 2:30 p.m. at the Logan County Commission office, 325 Stratton Street, where he will speak with area residents about infrastructure.
