CHARLESTON — Wyson Bartley, 56, of Chapmanville, was sentenced Monday, Feb. 23, by Chief United States District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin to 18 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release.

Bartley pled guilty in October 2008, admitting he distributed marijuana and possessed a firearm after having been convicted of a felony offense.

On July 21 and 28, 2007, Bartley sold marijuana to a confidential informant working with law enforcement.

On July 30, 2007, during the execution of a search warrant at Bartley’s residence, West Virginia troopers seized marijuana and a loaded .38 caliber revolver.

Bartley was prohibited from possessing a firearm by virtue of a Federal drug conviction in the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police jointly conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Karen B. Schommer handled the prosecution.
