The Logan High School football team improved to 2-0 on the season with Friday night’s 33-7 win at home over Shady Spring at Logan Stadium in the annual Logan Hall of Fame Game.
Logan quarterback Chris Marcum was 13-for-25 passing for 282 yards and one touchdown — an 11-yard pass to Kade Doss. He also rushed for 18 yards and scored two touchdowns on a pair of 7-yard runs.
“I though our guys played great tonight. I am so proud of them. We just have to keep playing every snap like its our last one,” Logan coach Gary Mullins said. “Our offense took great strides tonight and our defense played great again.”
As a team, the Wildcats rushed 33 times for 177 yards.
Khaleel Reynolds had nine carries for 78 yards, a 7-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion. He also had a 57-yard kick return.
Brynden “Worm” Street finished with seven rushes for 48 yards and a 2-yard TD run.
Tyler Vernatter had nine totes for 28 yards.
Brant Williams had two carries for three yards, while C.J. Williams had one rush for two yards.
Josh Rein led the receiving corps with four catches for 95 yards. Reynolds had four grabs for 81 yards, while C.J. Williams had two catches for 73 yards.
Doss had two catches for 16 yards, including an 11-yard TD grab. Brett Musick added a 17-yard catch.
Logan kicker Brian Craft was 1-for-3 in extra point kicks. He also punted twice for an average of 40.5 yards a kick.
On defense, Logan was led by Thomas Hunter, who had eight tackles. T.J. Tomblin, Doss, Clayton Marcum, Street and Vernatter had seven tackles each.
C.J. Williams finished with six tackles, while Teddy Nelson and Chris Marcum had five stops apiece. Nick Turner had four tackles and Brant Williams had three.
Tyler Workman, Ty Yeager and Jeremiah Spears all had two tackles each for Logan. Chris Browning, Jacob Vance, Kyle Runyon, Trent Dalton, Skyler Miller, Matt Cox and Brian Ball all had one tackle.
On special teams, Doss, C.J. Williams, Clayton Marcum, Chris Browning, Workman, Street, Jacob Browning, Brant Williams and Hunter each had a tackle.
Both Marcums and Street had interceptions.
Workman had two pass breakups. Street, Doss and Clayton Marcum had one each.
Tomblin added a sack and Street caused a fumble.
Logan will try to make it 3-0 next week as the Wildcats travel to Hamlin to take on the Lincoln County Panthers on Friday night.
