MT. GAY — A surprise pastor appreciation luncheon was held at Mt. Gay Freewill Baptist Church following Sunday School on August 5, 2012. The event honored the church’s pastor, Rev. Layton Lockhart and his wife, Linda.
Rev. Lockhart is the son of Clayton Lockhart, a former pastor of the church. Rev. and Mrs. Lockhart, the former Linda Compton, have been married 42 years and are residents of Mt. Gay. Rev. Lockhart is employed at Delta Electric in Logan. He has been pastor of the church since September 9, 1978.
The oldest member attending the event was Paul Sexton, 86, and the youngest was Amelia Hager, 2, from Omar. Traveling the greatest distance to attend was Tyler Tabor from Obetz, Ohio.
Entertainment included singing by Buddy and Brenda Lucas and a special song entitled “The Pastor Song” was sung by Jo Collins.
The Lockharts were presented a throw with their pictured sewn in it.
