CHAPMANVILLE — The Coalfield Youth Soccer League opened up its fall season with a number of matches held last weekend.
In the 16-and-under division, the Ninjas beat the Legends, 7-2.
Gage Skeens, Walker Jeffery and Hunter Napier had two goals each to lead the Ninjas. Tristan Thompson tallied both goals for the Legends.
In the 12-and-under division, the Red Dragons downed the Sharks 5-0.
Hailey Chewning paced the Red Dragons as she scored a hat trick with three goals. Ryan Belcher also had a goal for the winners. The last goal was inadvertedly kicked into the Sharks’ own goal.
The Bulldogs were a 10-2 winner over the Scorpions in another 12-and-under match.
Steven Clemons led the Bulldogs with a seven-goal effort. Walter MacNamara scored two goals and Andy Chapman had one.
Savannah Toney kicked in both goals for the Scorpions.
In the 9-and-under division, the Sharks shut out the Broncos, 1-0.
Riley Reed of the Sharks scored the only goal of the match.
The Golden Eagles were a 4-3 winner over the Warriors in another 9-and-under match which was won on penalty kicks.
Peyton Adams scored two goals for the Golden Eagles. Jayde Kuenzel also had a goal. Both had penalty goals as well.
For the Warriors, Tori Wilburn, Savannah Tomblin and Isaac Setser had one goal each.
