ARACOMA, W.Va. — Gerald Gordon Davis “Jerry” Bradford, 65, of Aracoma, departed this life Tuesday September 11, 2012, at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston following a sudden illness.
Born January 4, 1947, in Logan, he was a son of the late Leslie Newton and Nora Bell Black Bradford. Also preceding him in death was his brother-in-law, William B. Pearson Jr., and nephew, Aaron D. Pearson.
Jerry was a member of the Cole Street Missionary Baptist Church in Aracoma, a 1965 graduate of Logan High where he played football and a Marshall University graduate majoring in advertising and speech and minoring in broadcasting. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, a life member of the NAACP and NRA, a former member, president and chairman of the old Logan Jaycees, and retired from the Logan Job Service where he was a former manager.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his only loving sister, Leslie Joyce Pearson of Spartanburg, S.C.; one niece, Lanora (Donnie) Evans of Hickory, N.C.; five nephews, Gary Pearson and Mark (Deone) Pearson, both of Spartanburg, Luther Pearson Jr. of Beauford, S.C., Joseph (Marie) Pearson of San Antonia, Texas and William (Senta) Pearson of Beckley; 20 great-nieces; 10 great-nephews and eight great-great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Shirley Rankin Jones, George Ross, William Bradsher and Todd Fields, and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, with funeral services following at 1 p.m. at the Cole Street Missionary Baptist Church in Aracoma with the Rev. Frank Jones and Rev. James Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
His nephews will serve as pallbearers and nieces will be flower bearers.
