W.Va. drivers license

Editor,

I just received in the mail all the information I will need to renew my West Virginia drivers license. I get my mail at a Post Office box, but that is no good, it has to have a valid street address. We didn’t even have street signs until a few years ago. Then they came around and made us put a number on the front so the cops and ambulances know where to come and get us if we are hurt or have hurt someone else.

Why can’t the DMV look at my license and compare the ugly face on it to the face trying to renew it? What hair I have left is still blonde; my eyes are still blue.

I don’t have a big, black beard, I drive a Chevrolet… not a camel and I don’t wear a big towel around my head. I don’t carry a throw rug to kneel and pray to Allah five times a day.

Can’t the DMV look at my old license and look at my mug and say “Yeah, that’s him alright.”?

Maybe I could bring me wife down there instead of all these ID papers. She could say “Yeah, that’s the bum I’ve put up with all these years. Give him his license. I need to go shopping.”

Thank you,

James Kilgore

Entrenched incumbents

Editor,

It’s about to happen again. Nationwide, Congress has only a 10 percent approval rating yet we are about to re-elect 90 percent of the incumbents! How can this be? The only explanation: 90 percent of us approve of our own representative but want everyone else to elect someone different.

If this continues there will never be meaningful change in Washington. Things will always be the same; right up until our country collapses under the weight of debt and corruption.

Fellow Americans, we must do something different now. You can only vote for/against, and possibly replace, one of the 435 members of the House. Is your representative really worthy of being sent back to Washington? If he/she has been there for eight or more years it’s very likely he/she is part of the problem.

If one of your choices in November is an 8 plus year incumbent, seriously consider voting for the challenger. But you say, “The other candidate is a member of the other party and he’s pro this or that.” A freshman representative of either party will do less harm than an entrenched incumbent. In two years it will be easier to elect someone different and the country gets a new congress now!

Christian Democrats

Editor,

As a former 3rd generation Democrat I’d like to unapologetically say I’ve seen more qualified, moral and intelligent candidates fall out of my dogs butt than that “smug faced Chicago political thug” currently holding the office of President.

Remember how he made fun of us poor working class people in WV for ignorantly clinging to our Bibles and our guns?

There is an old saying about being judged by the company you keep, Jesus says you must love him more than your money, your family or even your own life or you can’t be his follower and you certainly can’t be part of an evil crowd.

So… let’s see, if you approve of brutally murdering little babies before and sometimes after they’re born you most certainly vote Democrat. If your a worthless bum who worked little or none your entire life and schemed or stole everything you could get from your parents till you got your Welfare or crazy checks coming in and if you weren’t to lazy or drunk to drive there you probably voted Democrat. If you practice adultery, fornication and all the other expressly forbidden Biblical commands without guilt or remorse you probably vote Democrat. If you don’t care if the government takes all our weapons and leaves our families at the mercy of all the drug addicts, murders’ perverts and thieves you should vote Democrat.

But if you pretend to care even a little about Jesus, how can you help these wicked people just because they promise to put an extra dollar in your pocket. If you do you should face the bank when you pray or the post office where you get your swell-fare checks seeing that money is your god.

It’s truly frightening knowing this man controls our military and has the nuclear football. A man that said America is nothing special, who wouldn’t publicly lay his hand on the Bible to be sworn in. A man who made the camera crews cover up the image of a cross in the distant background before he’d appear on camera. A man that said America has never been a Christian nation.

By completely weakening our economy as much as he was able and trying to completely eliminate our nuclear deterrent He’s done more damage to our country than a thousand terrorist and I don’t think it’s a accident.

My Democrat mom said before she died that he is an Antichrist and I agree. If you really know what’s going on you’d come out from among them as I did. Christian Democrats are now oxymorons.

Republicans cause Christians to sin

Editor,

Contrary to what republicans want Christians to believe, Christians do not have a God-given right or duty to punish sinners to make this a better world in which to live. This world is already scheduled for termination, and Jesus is already gone to prepare a better place for Christians who endure to the end.

Nearly two thousand years ago, the Scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in the act of adultery to Jesus for punishment. Under Mosaic Law, they had the God-given right and duty to punish the woman themselves, but they wanted to tempt Jesus and test His doctrine.

Jesus prevented the stoning of the woman by setting the standard so high that only He was qualified to do it (cast the first stone), and He sent the woman away unpunished. Jesus gave man a free will to choose Heaven or Hell, and He reserved the punishment of sinners unto the day of judgment (2 Pet. 2:9).

Soon after Jesus went to the Cross, Pharisees and false brethren attempted to convince Christians that they must obey Mosaic Law to be saved. Apostle Paul dedicated the entire Book of Galatians to proving that mixing Old Testament law with New Testament grace is a perversion of the gospel of Christ, and returning to the law would be the same as going back into bondage.

Today, it’s the republicans who have their own reason to want Christians to obey Mosaic Law, and they are more devious and more subtle about it than were the Pharisees. The republicans pretend that they are outraged by immoral sexual behavior and need Christians to help them stop that behavior. Christians are falling victim to that sly appeal to moral duty and are unwittingly putting themselves back under Mosaic Law.

But, every time Christians are persuaded to punish sinners, they make Christ of none effect. If Jesus had been persuaded by the Pharisees of a moral duty to punish the woman for adultery, His doctrine of grace through faith would have been nullified, and His death on the Cross would have been in vain. Although Jesus did not make the Pharisees happy, they would surely be amused if they knew how many Christians today are willing to do exactly what they had failed to get Jesus to do — punish sinners.

The republicans are using two main issues to gain political support and drive a wedge between Christians and Jesus. The sins of homosexuality and abortion are such hot-button issues that they have the ability to twist the guts with an almost holy vengeance. However, in and of themselves, those sins condemn only the ones who commit them. The strong emotional reaction evoked by those sins is more like metaphoric thorns in the flesh,-something that Christians must endure, not something that should give Christians occasion to sin.

The motive of the Pharisees to cause Christians to sin was a self-serving desire to maintain their control over the institution of religion, but the motive of the republicans is even more ignoble. The republicans simply want the political power to control the money of the richest nation in the world.

The republicans have never “gone to the wall” for the sake of God, but they routinely go to the wall for the sake of money. In fact, they are currently camped¬ out at the wall waiting for the third fight to allow the rich to keep their Bush Tax Cuts, having already won the first two fights by holding for ransom everybody else who isn’t rich.

The willingness of the republicans to criminalize sin and punish sinners has reaped huge dividends in political support from Christians, but for Christians, the cost of their support in lost souls is quite literally a crying shame. The bottom line is that the God-given right and duty to punish sinners is a work of Mosaic Law (John 8:5), and Christians who justify their actions by a work of the law are fallen from grace (Gal. 5:4).

Because church leaders like Mike Huckabee are too involved in their own personal political ambitions to guard the church against straying from the faith, Christians must use their own free will to either accept correction and live, or follow after the republicans and put themselves in danger of the judgment.

Sincerely,

Russell Marcum

I find it interesting that myluckyfortune chastises Mr. Hall for his belief that the Democrat Party is the party of Satan. Lucky, did you ever hear the saying: by their fruits ye shall know them. What is the Democrat platform right now? Well…in a tip of the hat to gay people, Obama and the Democrats are supporting gay marriage. Also, in a tip of the hat to feminists, the Democrat platform is for abortion on demand. Please give me the scripture that condones this type of behavior!

To Mr. Marcum, I believe that we are all accountable to God for the way we vote. When you stand before God, how are you going to wipe your hands clean of the blood of those countless infants who have been butchered at the hands of evil people? If you vote Democrat, you are giving your approval to their platform which includes abortion on demand. You will also be approving of gay marriage. Show me in the bible where two men married one another with God’s blessing. The bible clearly teaches through the Apostle Paul that homosexuality is a gross sin in the sight of God.

Isaiah teaches us that in the last days men will become corrupt and forsake sound teachings. How in good faith can any Democrat who professes to be a Christian follow their platform? I will leave that matter between myluckyfortune and Mr. Marcum.

Mr. Hall, I agree with your sentiments that the Democrat Party is following the path of Satan. I do this by looking at their platform, and the character of the people within its ranks. President Obama hates Christians and Jews. We have seen his fruits, and they are not of God in my opinion. A nurse in Chicago pleaded with Obama (who had power at the time to get things done) to make a law that children who were aborted but somehow miraculously survived the procedure to be helped. The practice was to let the child die alone on a cold slab until it was gone, and then to throw it away the body like a piece of raw meat. She even pleaded for the case to let a nurse stand by and hold the infant until it died, but Obama would have none of that. I have given a link to information on this story

http://www.mcclpac.org/about_obama_baipa.htm . How on God’s green earth can you say anything but the Democrat Party is the party of Satan? I’ll let you folks think about this on your own now.

Dr. Pepper, it is up to each woman to decide what happens to her body because it is between the woman and God. We have no right to force our opinion on anyone. And, as far as gay marriage, I don't care if they get married or not. It doesn't bother me. I know that each person will have to stand before God for their own sins, not others. And, I don't have to justify myself to you. You sound like a very judgmental bigot. You would worry yourself sick about what someone else does, but if someone wanted you to adopt a child, you'd be the first one shaking your head and backing away. Take the beam out of thine own eye first. Look it up in the Bible. I pray about people, children, pets and all the world's problems knowing that my God can take care of it and I leave in His hands. Also, Jesus is here for the sinners, not to chastise, but to lift them up and show them God's love. Get busy with your own life, pepper. God bless everyone.

To Russell Marcum. To say that republicans cause christians to sin is such a narrow-minded view. The devil causes evil to spread in a person's heart, no matter what political or (religious party for that matter), they are. And, we have every right and duty to punish criminals and who better to do that than christians? We must do that for our children's sake, as you couldn't live in this world without punishment as a deterrent. Everyone, no matter how you vote, please get out and vote and God bless.

Mr. Hall, why are you filled with such hate? You cannot put all the world's problems on the democrats. I'm a loving, christian democrat and take issue with everything you said. I know there is nothing I can say to your distorted, little mind so that you will understand the truth about my Jesus, the Lord of my life and God's love for us. As for our politicians, both the democratic and republican parties are filled with people of differing views and they both need to come together for the sake of our country.
