Chapmanville was born August 15, 1922, at Stone Branch, a daughter of the late Harrison and Jane Trustle Compton. She departed this life Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Garrett Fork.
Also preceding her in death was her first husband, Franklin Nida on April 1, 1973, and second husband, Delmar Cook; two brothers, Rev. W.H. Earl Compton and Jack Compton, and three sisters, Dortha Rowe, Frances Poole and Alma Compton.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a member of the Mill Creek Church of God and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Frank) Vance of Man, and Sue (Carroll) Barker and Jane (Rev. Curtis) Gibson of Garrett Fork, with whom she made her home, both of Garrett Fork; two sons, Glen (Billie)
Nida and Stephen (Rhonda) Nida, all of Crooked Creek; one brother, James Compton of Mt. Gay; grandchildren, Frank Marcum, Jimmy (Linda) Marcum, Tommy (Carrie) Vance, Marsha (Scott) Myers, Glen Nida Jr., Kevin Bucher, Joshua Nida and Stephanie Nida; great-grandchildren, Stevi, Kody, Tyler and Kelli Chattin, Zoey and Boston Myers, Jeremy Nida, Caleb Nida and Noah Vance; step-grandchildren, Danny Vance, Diana Vanderpool, Sandra Morgan, Tommy Joe Vance, Amanda and Evan Gibson and Michael Brown; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends; a special niece who loved her like a mother, June Carol Lowe of Turkey Creek, Ky., and special caregiver, Connie Butcher.
Services were conducted at Tuesday, March 3, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Rev. Homer Sipple and Rev. Stacy Dingess officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
