CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mrs. Exie Dingess, 85, of Chapmanville, was born April 10, 1923, at Verdunville, a daughter of the late Elisha and Mearl Stuphin Meade. She departed this life Saturday, February 28, 2009, at her residence with her family by her side.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Dell Dingess, in 1976; one son, Larry F. Dingess; one grandson, Scott A. Dingess, and three sisters, Frankie Bragg, Gracie Sargent and Joyce Spry.

Mrs. Dingess was a homemaker and a former waitress at the Franklin’s Dairy Bar at Logan. She was a member of the Chapmanville United Baptist Church. She enjoyed her time sewing and being with her family. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. James Walker and Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville.

Survivors include one son, Roger D. (Shirley) Dingess of Chapmanville; one daughter, Karen Dingess (Mark Gamin) of Lakewood, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tara Nicole Dingess of Chapmanville, Kayla Gamin of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and Zane Gamin of Lakewood, and three brothers, Taylor Meade of Verdunville, Ray Meade of Whitman and Hallie Meade of Ligonier, Ind.

Services will be conducted noon Wednesday, March 4, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Rev. Glenn White Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Frye Cemetery at Verdunville.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Adkins, Zane Gamin, Mark Gamin, Harry Farley, Mack Bryant and Rick Dingess.

Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Nelson, Alden Dyer, Chester Elkins, Claude Workman and Millard Hensley.

Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
