NEWARK, Ohio — Joe H. Griffith, 79, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of Elk Creek, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Licking Memorial Hospital at Newark.
Born July 19, 1933, at Elk Creek, he was a son of the late Arlie Griffith and Carrie Kennedy Griffith. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Violet Griffith.
Mr. Griffith was employed in construction and had worked on Newark City Hall, Licking Memorial Hospital, and the City Service Building. He loved to hunt and fish.
Those left to cherish his memory include his longtime companion, Ruth Owen; a son, Dennis (Carrie) Carter; grandchildren, Dennis and Dylan Carter; brothers, Wonnie Griffith, Wayman Griffith, Bobby Griffith, and Herman Griffith; sisters, Floramae Scott, Christine Trent, Ernistine Cline and Dottie Browning, and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. today at the Newark Chapel at Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral and Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 24, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
