by Paul Adkins
Noah Corbett led the Logan Middle School to a 22-18 win at home over Ravenswood Thursday night to keep the Timberwolves unbeaten.
Logan stands at 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-Valley Conference.
Corbett was 12-for-24 passing for 262 yards and two touchdowns — both to Daniel Browning from 60 and 50 yards out respectively. Corbett also rushed 10 times for 39 yards and scored on a two-point conversion. Browning finished with four catches for 123 yards and ran with the ball eight times for 38 yards.
Logan’s Ty Browning reeled in four passes for 92 yards and rushed three times for 48 yards, including a 35-yard TD run. Braxton Goff had two catches for 25 yards, while Brian Farley had two grabs for 39 yards.
Jace Watkins led the LMS defense with 13 tackles, one hurry, one caused fumble and one fumble recovery. Daniel Browning had eight tackles and Ty Browning seven with two pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries.
Corbett also had a tackle, an interception and a fumble recovery on defense. David Cruz also had a fumble recovery.
“We came out very flat in the first half with a lot of sloppy play,” LMS coach Jared Voldness said. “We came out in the second half with a lot of heart and desire and never gave up. We were able to move the ball the entire game but just struggled finding the end zone until late in the game. Give credit to Ravenswood as they played a very good game and they have a good team. This is the first 4-0 start in school history and the first 3-0 start in Mid Valley Conference play.”
The Timberwolves are scheduled to travel to Madison for a non-conference game on Thursday in a 7 p.m. contest. The JV team will play Belfry (Ky.) at home on Tuesday night at 6:3o.
* The Man Middle School football team lost at Madison on Thursday, 28-24. It was the first loss of the season for the Pioneers.
