The regional golf results are in.
The Logan High School golf team placed fifth in Monday’s Class AAA Region 4 tourney at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane, while the Chapmanville Regional team was third in the 2A regionals at Big Bend.
Logan had a 260 in its regional meet, led by Sam Corns, who fired an 84. J.C. Motes had a 91, Chase Preston an 85 and Eric Burnette a 91.
Cabell Midland won the 3A regional title with a 238. Huntington was one stroke behind with a 239. Both teams advance to the state tourney in Wheeling.
Winfield was third with a 242 while Hurricane was fourth with a 243. Point Pleasant (267), Spring Valley (285), St. Albans (310), Lincoln County (338) and Nitro (343) rounded out the field.
Seth Kinker led Cabell Midland with a 79.
Winfield’s Chris Williams Hurricane’s Alex Hambel tied for medalist honors with a 76 and both qualified for the state tournament.
In the Class AA Region 4 finals, Scott was crowned regional champions as the Skyhawks shot a 230. Poca was one shot behind with a 231 and will join Scott in the state tourney.
Chapmanville Regional was third with a 251. Herbert Hoover was fourth with a 257, while Nicholas County was fifth with a 265. Mingo Central (279), Sissonville (288), Wayne (288) and Clay County (304) took spots six through nine.
Alex Boggs led Scott with a 75. Sterling Chafin had a 76, Chad Honeycutt a 79 and Aaron Grant an 82.
Poca was paced by Travis Colvert, who also had a 75.
Travis Gibson of Herbert Hoover also qualified to the state tourney as he was the medalist with a 74. Drew Ward of Nicholas County, who fired a 77, also made it.
