A spokesperson for the West Virginia State Police detachment at Hamlin said the suspect entered Harts Pharmacy around 12:14 p.m. Thursday with a shotgun in hand.
“At about 12:14, Cpl. J.L. Joyce received a call through our 911 center about an armed robbery in progress at the Harts Pharmacy,” the WVSP spokesperson said. “Cpl. Joyce received information while he was in route that a suspect, a white male wearing a black ski mask entered the pharmacy and brandished a shotgun or similar type of long gun and obtained approximately 100 20mg oxycontin pills and fled the scene on a camouflaged ATV.
“Members of the Logan State Police detachment and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office canvassed the surrounding area, but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. Canine and the State Police aviation were also utilized in the search efforts.”
Police located the suspect’s ATV in a remote area off Scites Road in Midkiff and the investigation is ongoing, the spokesperson said.
