HARTS, W.Va. — Sarah Jane Topping, 86, of Harts, departed this life Sunday, October 14, 2012, at CAMC General in Charleston.
Born June 5, 1926, in Ethel, she was a daughter of the late William and Beulah Smith Moore. Also preceding her in death was her husband, James K. Topping; one daughter, Gaynell Duran; one grandson, William Lewis “Weese” Topping; three sisters, Opal Bowling, Elizabeth Pack and Ruth Riffett, and three brothers, Deward, Luther and George Moore.
Sarah was a member of the Church of Christ at Ranger and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed telling jokes and stories to family and friends and reminiscing of years gone by.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Janet (David) Windes and Renessa Topping, both of Texarkana, Texas; four sons, Dale (Sandra) Topping of Seymour, Tenn., Lyle (Carol) Topping of South Charleston, Mark (Sherry) Topping of Madison and Brian Topping of Texarkana; one brother, William (Geraldine) Moore Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Kile, Jessica, John, Cindy, Dewayne, Trenton, Lyle II, Paul, Sarah, Michael, Timothy and Nick, and 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Hope, Drew, Tyler, Xander, Lexie, Mia, Lyle II “Tre”, and Madelynn “Maddy”.
The family would like to thank Amber Browning who devoted her time and care and also, Rhonda with Hospice.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18, at Freeman Funeral Home with Gary Topping officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Lyle Topping, Paul Topping, Tre Topping, Mark Frye, Trent Topping, Dewayne Topping and Timothy Topping.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
