CRITES — A Crites resident has been charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend’s two-year-old son.
Nicholas Turkale, 25, charged with child neglect resulting in death and murder by West Virginia State Police on Wednesday afternoon.
Troopers found the little boy with severe head injuries in the Buffalo Creek Apartments located at Crites. The child was flown to a Charleston hospital where he died Wednesday morning.
Turkale and the child’s mother, both who was home at the time of the incident, told troopers the child was climbing on a sink when he fell and hit his head.
Further investigation led police to determine the couple’s statement was inaccurate.
Troopers say the boy died from head trauma but would not release any more details in the case.
Police report that no more arrests are expected.
