CROOKED CREEK, W.Va. — Myrtle A. White, 95, 0f Crooked Creek, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 23, 2012.
Born March 11, 1917, at Mud Fork, Logan County, she was a daughter of the late J.E. and Lena McDonald Avis.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, Harry S. White; son, John B. White; grandson, Richard W. White Jr.; sister, Mary McDonald, and brothers, Sherman and Roy (Jean) Avis.
Myrtle worked for the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement as postmaster at the Peach Creek office. She was a lifelong member of the Crooked Creek Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the adult choir.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Brenda (Carl) Beechner of Rochester, N.Y.; son, Richard (Janet) White of Crooked Creek; grandchildren, Catharine Ann White of Crooked Creek, Margery (Joe) Cross of Elizabethtown, Ky., David Browne of Rochester, Natalie (Chris) Grubb of Thomasville, N.C., Tracey (Kevin) Vandenaald of Falls Church, Va., and Jason (Kari) Beechner of Royersford, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Ryan Grubb, Adam Cross, Wesley Farmer, Roger (Elizabeth) Farmer, Megan Cross, L.J. Cross, Erin Hager, Zachary Farmer, Abigail Cross and Elliott Vandenaald; niece, June Suarez; nephews, Danny McDonald of Crooked Creek, Ed Avis of Maine, Randy Avis of Virginia and Darrell (Maggie) White of Fairborn, Ohio, and a host of cousins and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 26, at the Crooked Creek Church of Christ with Minister Tim Secrist officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the James Funeral Home.
