CHIEF LOGAN STATE PARK —Eerie sights and sounds, ghost tales and scary movies are common and expected at this time of year. Chief Logan State Park will host the first ever Zombie-Fest on Sat. Oct. 27.
The Logan Empowerment Action and Development (LEAD) Community Organization is partnering with several local organizations to bring a fun, family-friendly event to Logan County. The event will include a zombie walk, a Thriller Dance Party, costume contest, live music, prizes and more. Zombies in costume will be walking around the park beginning at 2 p.m. Make up services will be provided beginning at noon for those who need help with “zombification.”
Dance the “Thriller” dance at a dance party that begins at 3 p.m. Expert instructors will be on site to teach the awesome dance moves and a DJ will be providing just the right music to be “startin’ somethin” zombie style on the dance floor. During the dance party, prizes will be awarded for the coolest zombies. Categories include Scariest Zombie, Funniest Zombie, Best Zombie Couple/Group, and Best Zombie Spawn (for children.) Judges will be roaming the crowd to find participants, so the walking dead need to be ready.
There will be live music at the amphitheater from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Proceeds from this event will help fill local food pantries for the holiday season, as well as provide shoes and toys for children in need this Christmas. LEAD Community Organization is proud to sponsor this event with great organizations, including the Logan County Autism Association, the Aracoma Story, the Hatfield-McCoy Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Logan County Commission.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the park, or at www.loganzombiefest.com.
