RALPH, Ala. — Pete “Bud” Stafford, 74, of Ralph, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Octboer 31, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.


Born October 10, 1938 at Stowe, he was the youngest son of the late Kenneth W. Sr. and Leona Spry Stafford. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Jody Clay; grandson, Adam Clay; two brothers, Frank Stafford and Kenneth W. Stafford Jr.; one sister, Maud (Sis) Damron, and his maternal grandfather, J.W. Spry.


Bud was a 1956 graduate of Man High School and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He spent his life working in the coal mines of West Virginia and Alabama. He enjoyed hunting and golfing. Bud especially loved dogs and they were his constant companions.


Survivors include his daughters, Cathy Farley of Monroe, N.C., and Teri Pater of Northport, Ala.; six grandchildren, Jason Clay, Lindsey Helms, Seth Farley, Julie Ann Farley, Nikki Pater, and Derek May; two sisters, Anna Browning of Fayetteville and Sally Huffman of Poplar Grove, Ill.; a very special uncle, Tom Spry of Mission Viejo, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.


Memorial services were held in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.


Bud, know that your family loves you and we are sorry that we never got to say a proper good-bye.
