CHARLESTON — Gary Allan Terry, 38, of Pecks Mill, faced Kanawha County Magistrate Julie Yeager as he was being charged with murder in the first degree in the death of his wife, Caren Blankenship.

The complaint says the Terry and his wife, Caren Blankenship, the victim, got into an argument at the Rodeway Inn at Chapmanville. During the course of the argument, the defendant pushed the victim causing her to hit her head resulting in a severe head trauma. This injury caused the victim to be transported to Logan Regional Medical Center, then on to Charleston Area Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Reports say Terry is claiming self defense and his mother, who was also in the room, didn’t see what happened. Allegedly, Blankenship’s brother called authorities after he got to the hospital and found Terry’s story had inconsistencies.

If Terry is found guilty of murder in the first degree, he may face life in prison. He is currently being held without bond.

I really loved Caren. It is so sad that she had to leave this world in such a manner. However, before the judge of all the earth this man will one day stand and give account for his deeds. I pray that God sees him through the eyes of mercy, and that his sin is covered by the blood of Jesus son or else he will be cut off from life for all eternity never more to be remembered. Where Caren will spend eternity in the comforts of God's Kingdom; reigning with Jesus and his spirit born children, because of his mercy and grace.
