BIG CREEK, W.Va. — Mrs. Marcella Varney, 91, of North Fork of Big Creek, was born September 30, 1921, at Banco, a daughter of the late Calvin and Eva Justice Adkins. She departed this life Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at her residence.


Mrs. Varney was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at Leet.


Also preceding her in death was her husband, Grady, on May 18, 1979, and her daughter, Peggy Slazo.


Survivors include her children, Gary Varney, Gwen (Maurice) Barker, Eddie (Joyce) Varney, Joel (Julie) Varney, Grady (Velva) Varney, Teddy (Lane) Varney, Jimmy (Delores) Varney, Timmy Varney and Kevin (Jackie) Varney; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three special nephews, Terry, Dick and Dennie Surgoine, and several other close relatives and friends.


Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 1, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Jesse Williamson, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Varney Cemetery at North Fork of Big Creek.


Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorial contributions to be sent to Dignity Hospice P.O. Box 4304 Chapmanville, WV 25508.


Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
