CLEAR FORK — The Logan High School girls’ basketball team dropped to 1-2 on the season with Wednesday night’s 64-48 loss at Westside, the No. 1-ranked Class AA team in the state and the defending state champions.
Logan was led by Shayna Gore with 19 points and freshman Monica Mitchell with 10.
Westside’s Hope Lester was the game’s leading scorer with 26 points. She also pulled down 15 rebounds for a double-double. Megan Endicott tallied 11 points.
Katie Kirk added four points for the Lady Cats, while Hannah Tothe, Kyra Cline and Summer Collins all had three points each. Taylor Napier, Hannah Adkins and Jenna Kimler each had two points.
Westside led 19-9 after one quarter and outscored Logan 17-13 in the second to take a 36-22 halftime lead. The Lady Cats played the Renegades to an even 17-17 count in the third as Westside held onto a 53-39 lead. Logan outscored Westside 17-11 in the fourth.
Logan is scheduled to travel to Huntington next Thursday to take on the Class AAA sectional tourney rival Highlanders. LHS then hosts Capital on Dec. 15, Tolsia on Dec. 18 and Class AAA power Morgantown on Jan. 4.
