Three Logan High School football players were named Class AAA all-state last weekend.

Named special honorable mention were senior quarterback Chris Marcum and senior wide receiver/quarterback Khaleel Reynolds.

Josh Rein, a wide receiver, was named honorable mention all-state.

Just the trio of Wildcat players were recognized by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association despite Logan enjoying a 7-3 season under head coach Gary Mullins.

Several Logan players were surprisingly omitted including linebackers and top tacklers Thomas Hunter and Tyler Vernatter and defensive back Brynden “Worm” Street, regarded as one of the best DB’s in the state.

Logan senior punter Brian Craft was also left off the list despite having an outstanding season in which he averaged better than 45 yards per boot and handled all of Logan’s kicking duties.

Logan finished the post-season as the No. 17-ranked Class AAA squad in the state — just barely missing the Class AAA playoffs for the third straight season.

The Wildcats were beaten in the 2010 playoffs by No. 1 George Washington and were upended at home last season by Parkersburg South.

Below is a list of the 2012 Class AAA all-state football team.

George Washington running back Ryan Switzer was the captain of the first team. Switzer finished with just under 3,000 all-purpose yards (2,961 to be exact) and 40 touchdowns. He closed out with 2,379 yards and 32 touchdowns rushing while averaging 11.5 yards per carry and added four touchdowns receiving, three on interception returns and one on a punt return.
