DINGESS, W.Va. — Haskell Marcum, 75, of Dingess, went to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep Sunday, December 23, 2012. He was the last surviving child born to the late Charlie and Emma Horn Marcum on November 12, 1937 in Wayne. Also preceding him in death were seven brothers; three sisters, and one great-grandson, Branden Lee Watts.
Mr. Marcum was a retired coal miner, assistant pastor of Jennies Creek Freewill Baptist Church and former pastor at The Zion Church at Breeden.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Mary E. Messer Marcum; sons, Billy (Connie Frances) Marcum of Williamson, and Dwayne (Chrissy Lou) Marcum and Toma (Crystal) Marcum, both of Dingess; daughters, Deborah (Dennis) Workman and Connie (Randy) Watts, both of Dingess; grandchildren, Jason and Dennis Lee Workman, Lance Marcum, Aaron Marcum, and TJ Marcum Jr., all of Dingess, Samitha (Tristan) Morgan of Switzer; great-grandchildren, ALex, Matthew and Megan Watts, all of Dingess, and his church family.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, at The Zion Church with the Pastor Curtis White and Brother Homer Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in the Maynard Cemetery at Breeden.
Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. Thursday at the church with special services beginning at 7 p.m.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
