CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Frank Hensley, 85 of Chapmanville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at his residence.
Born May 11, 1927, in Chapmanville, he was a son of the late James and Sarah Dalton Hensley. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Garnet Workman Hensley; one sister, Roberta Smith, and three brothers, James Hensley Jr., Arthur Hensley, and Dennis Hensley.
Frank attended Chapmanville Grade School, and a member and Deacon of the Shining Light United Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force during World War II. Frank was a coal miner and truck driver and worked for Island Creek Coal Company and Southern Ohio Coal Company.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Lillian Carroll (Carl) Curry of Ashland, Ky., and Patty Sue (Larry) Beckett of Chapmanville; one son, Jimmy Dale (Sherry) Hensley of Chapmanville; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Kathleen) Curry, Ryan (Amy) Curry, Allen (Nicole) Beckett, Leslie (Jim) Honaker, Rebecca (Kevin) Moore, Cristy Hensley, and Brian (Jill) Hensley; 14 great-grandchildren, Jamie, Mike, Brandon (Erika), Benjamin, Caitlyn, Jeromy, Ethan, Landon, Karleigh, Emma, Hunter, Carter, Mackenzie and Katilyn; two brothers-in-law, Sherman Smith and Kenneth Robinson, and his caregivers, Freda Collins and Angie Mills.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 30, at Freeman Funeral Home with Jimmy Carter and Ricky Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
